Be able to Pitch Ideas
YOU MUST gather your findings for LO 1, 2 and 3 and “pitch”
them to a prospective publisher that may be interested in publishing your
magazine.
The pitch will be presented in class in front of your peers
and should be presented in a professional manner.
Other tasks to complete:
Client Meeting – 1-2-1 meeting with the Publisher OR send
them the link to your Prezi presentation and obtain feedback from them.
Online Survey – Ask your peers OR potential readers to give
their opinions on the proposal for this new publication.

Printing Quotes/Costs –
- Fill in the details required (See below as an example) – THEN work out how much per. copy it would cost to print the magazine – For example:
£11,998.55p – 10,000 Copies – 100 Pages (Make sure you look at your Flat Plan and ‘Magazine of Inspiration’ to see how many pages there are going to be) =
£1.20 per. Copy –

- Is this too costly when compared to the price of the magazine?
- HOW else can you cut costs to a MINIMUM?
Distribution to Retailer Costs –

- Publisher – Are the Publisher you’re pitching to distributing their own magazines?
Advertising Revenue –

Other Advertising Methods – YOU SHOULD investigate other revenue that can be generated through advertising space – For example:

Spending Power – WHY have you priced (£) your magazine in the category? Link to your Primary research for Unit 01 and/or Unit 13.
Questions should revolve around the following:
- Quality of the Pitch
- Meanings behind the magazine name
- Quality of the pre-production materials presented
- Quality of the magazine pages
- How likely are you to invest in the magazine
- Marketing of the magazine – Strengths? Areas still to cover?
- Target Audience discussed
- Areas to develop for future editions of the magazine
