LO4 - P4 and M2 - Be able to Pitch Ideas

Be able to Pitch Ideas

YOU MUST gather your findings for LO 1, 2 and 3 and “pitch” them to a prospective publisher that may be interested in publishing your magazine.

The pitch will be presented in class in front of your peers and should be presented in a professional manner.

Other tasks to complete:

Client Meeting – 1-2-1 meeting with the Publisher OR send them the link to your Prezi presentation and obtain feedback from them.
Online Survey – Ask your peers OR potential readers to give their opinions on the proposal for this new publication.
Example Pitch:

Useful Information/Links:
Publisher Costs – Case Study
mixmag MIXMAG – http://mixmag.net
Distributor:
Seymour look after the logistics and deal with wholesalers and retailers like:
wh smith
Breakdown of Profits for selling the magazines:

5% to Distributor seymour

Printing Quotes/Costs –
  • Fill in the details required (See below as an example) – THEN work out how much per. copy it would cost to print the magazine – For example:

£11,998.55p – 10,000 Copies – 100 Pages (Make sure you look at your Flat Plan and ‘Magazine of Inspiration’ to see how many pages there are going to be) =
£1.20 per. Copy –
  1. Is this realistic?
  2. Is this too costly when compared to the price of the magazine?
  3. HOW else can you cut costs to a MINIMUM?
